i.i.

The nerd had found out something about Germany and the Germans: in this country, she used to say, great institutions share the bad habits of jealous men. They so abhorr the very idea of "false feelings" that they admirably suffocate every motivated person by examining their motivation to death. As only pretenders can possibly survive the procedures, the heads of the institutions know each other well as pretenders and become nervous when seeing somebody acting according to their rules of "authenticity."  The nerd was surprised to find at least one German-Jewish philosopher, Theodor W. Adorno, able to understand the mechanism. She didn't want to know even a little bit about his life, though.
